Welcome to my home page. Stay a while and have some tea.
Despite my passion for chasing after the most transcendental and theoretical mathematics in my work, I've always been a straightforward person that dislikes complexity, often stating facts as they are with a keen emphasis on simplicity.
Unfortunately, IMVU is unfortunately full of sensitive and emotional people who evidently don't get out enough. If I have upset you in any way, please be aware that it was likely intentional, and would advise seeking sympathy elsewhere.
My home page is a work in progress, but I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed making it. If you want to get in touch for any reason, please leave a message I and I promise I shall get back to you.
Quote of the Month: The evolution of the world can be compared to a display of fireworks that has just ended; some few red wisps, ashes and smoke. Standing on a well chilled cinder, we see the slow fading of the suns, and we try to recall the vanished brilliance of the origin of the worlds."
- Georges Lemaître
Does absolute truth exist?
Greetings, all! My name is Jin and I am an Astrophysicist at the University of Oxford working on the Herschel Space Observatory. We are currently mapping out the Milky Way in the infrared and using this data to understand the formation of stars among other things (I have already changed my research area, and will update soon).
My strong ambition is to understand the underlying Mathematics and mechanisms that describe our universe. I am a firm believer in truth, and its existence in the purest, absolute form. Its obtainability, however, is up for debate.
Cosmology does not circumscribe the entirety of my interests in academia. Subjects that deal with the transcendental and metaphysical also interest me greatly. I am an avid believer of the 7th proposition of the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus. To paraphrase Wittgenstein - "What cannot be spoken about, must be passed over in silence". Which means quite literally, don't bullshit about things which cannot be spoken about.
The above makes me sound far more intense than I really am. To be honest, I just spend my time eating and sleeping, 'cuz dats cool, yo. (I'm quite fit though, herpa derp)
Leave me a message, don't be shy! :)
Blurb for the lurkers.
We were born to see the world through rose-tinted spectacles, and so far as our own mortality is concerned, reality in its purest form shall be forever denied to us. - Immanuel Kant
Food for the stalkers.
I have removed photos of myself since it would be very damaging to my career...
Without mentioning names, I have been invited to work as one of the main authors at a renowned university on the ESO VLT KMOS (European Southern Observatory, Very Large Telescope, K-band Multi-Object Spectrograph) project commencing October 2013. We will be using observational data to study the evolution of galaxies in our universe which is currently very poorly understood. Awesome stuff!
